About

"Recycle and Recreate" refers to the process of taking materials that would otherwise be discarded or considered waste,

and repurposing them to create new, useful items.

This process involves transforming the original material,

often using creative or innovative techniques,

to create something entirely new and unique.

Who is behind it all?

At ReCycle ReCreate, our mission is to provide sustainable and creative solutions for everyday items by repurposing materials that would otherwise go to waste.

Our founder, Shelley, is a passionate artist and printer with over 30 years of experience in the industry. She loves to collect rare books and print memorabilia and has recently delved into creating wearable art using reusable or recycled materials.

Our website is a hub for all things sustainable, offering tips and ideas on how to reduce waste and live a more eco-friendly lifestyle.

We believe that small changes can make a big difference,

and we encourage everyone to join us on this journey towards a

cleaner and brighter future for generations to come.

Our BAGS NOT Plastic® range is one of our signature offerings, and it represents our commitment to reducing single-use plastic waste.

By using our reusable and recycled products, you can make a positive impact on the environment while still enjoying functional and stylish items.

We are proud to use a puzzle piece as our label on some of our products, symbolizing how every small piece of the puzzle adds up to create a larger picture of sustainability.

Join us in our mission to recycle and recreate, and together,

we can make a difference.

Where are we?

We have regularly participated in the Go Green Expo and recently the Encraftment Market,

where we displayed our new ocean-themed stand, complete with boat shelves, recycled satin ocean coloured backdrop, fish netting, snorkels, shells, and our new banner with the tagline...

"Ask us what we do...It's pretty rubbish actually"

We look forward to attending more expos and events in the future.

To stay updated on where we are, our latest creations, and prototypes,

please follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

ReCycle ReCreate is based in Prebbleton, a vibrant and growing village located between Christchurch and Lincoln in Canterbury, NZ. Our founder, Shelley, enjoys being a part of the Prebbleton community, which is her home and has a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, chooks, and worm farms.

Shelley resides in Prebbleton with her husband and three adult children.

Accolades

I am grateful for the recognition and support that ReCycle ReCreate has received over the years. In 2018, I was humbled to be nominated for several awards at the Selwyn Awards, including Community Service, Environmental, Peoples Choice, and Innovation Excellence. ReCycle ReCreate received Second Runner-up in Innovation Excellence,

which was a great honor.

In December 2018, some of my products were entered into the Sustainability section of the Healthy Food Guide Awards for 2019, and the sandwich bags received Highly Commended, which was a fantastic achievement.

In November 2019, I had the privilege and excitement of having the

Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall (Now the King & Queen) stop by my site

during their visit to the Lincoln Farmers and Craft Market.

I was able to share my passion and products, especially the bouncy castle bags and panniers, and gifted them both a small gift made from old seatbelts called "whatever pouches."

In August 2021, I attended the Selwyn Awards again and received the Silver Award,

which was a great accomplishment.

And in October 2022, I was honored to receive a platinum award and the trophy for

overall area winner at the Selwyn Responsible Business Awards,

recognizing our environmentally sustainable business practices

and community engagement.

These accolades have been a testament to my dedication and commitment to sustainability and recycling, and I am grateful for the support and recognition from the community.

Turtles & Jellyfish

Recycle recreate turle

One of a turtles' favourite food is the jellyfish.

Plastic bags look like jellyfish, especially in the water

1 in 3 turtles found dead on New Zealand beaches has eaten plastic.

According to UN statistics in 2017,

the average kiwi uses 6 single-use plastic bags per week,

which equates to 348 per year.

The average bag is used for 12 minutes before heading to the rubbish bin.

If everyone in New Zealand used the average number per week,

then after one year we would have enough bags to cover Auckland 48.8 times!
Plastic that ends up in our oceans turns into smaller micro plastic that never breaks down, but can be found in salt, fish and other marine animals.

Plastic bags are often eaten by marine life.

The plastic will starve and kill the animal and the litter may not decompose for 1000 years and will continue to find more victims,

long after previous marine animals rot away.
